Skrtel: Clubs have approached me

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has admitted receiving offers to move to other clubs and said: "Anything can happen."

Skrtel, 27 - who won the Player of the Year award as Liverpool finished in a disappointing eighth position last season - is reported to be frustrated by the club's failure to challenge for the Premier League title.

Speculation suggests that champions Manchester City are interested in signing the Slovakian international although his agent, Karol Csonto, had previously insisted his client was staying at Anfield.
Speaking to the Slovakian newspaper Dennik Sport, Skrtel - who joined Liverpool from Zenit St Petersburg for £6 million in 2008 - said: "I am Liverpool player because I have a valid contract here.
"There have been a number of offers [from other clubs], but without Liverpool's permission nothing can move forward. We have been in talks about a new contract, but it has not moved forward.
"At the moment I am a Liverpool player, and what happens in future in football you can never foresee. Anything can happen, but for now I have a valid contract and what is to come will come."
Skrtel praised the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who took over from Kenny Dalglish earlier in the summer, saying he had created a more relaxed atmosphere at the club.
"He is absolutely OK," he said. "His motto is an open approach towards players, and he is very human in the way he tries to communicate with us as much as possible. Thanks to him, the atmosphere within the club has changed. It is now more relaxed.
"I must highlight the openness of the new manager. He told us at the first training session that the door was always open and, anything we need, we should come to him. He is a little bit different from Dalglish in this."
Rodgers, meanwhile, has confirmed that he would be interested in bringing midfielder Joe Allen to Liverpool from his former club Swansea.
Allen is under contract at the Liberty Stadium, but Rodgers said: "I have a great relationship with Swansea - but if there is a market for any of the players I would like to be in that market.
"They respect that. He [Allen] is a very talented player, which everyone knows, but there is nothing more at the moment."
