Carroll, 23, moved to Merseyside from Newcastle in a record £35 million deal in January 2011, but has since scored only 11 goals in 58 games.
He was heavily linked with an exit following the arrival of new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in the summer, with West Ham and Newcastle interested in moves that would have involved a loan spell prior to a permanent deal.

"There is absolutely no chance [of a loan deal] - and certainly not Newcastle,'' Rodgers was quoted as saying in the Guardian. "Newcastle got £35 million for this player last year. To even consider wanting to take him on loan is a liberty, really.
